So the AL extends its winning streak over the NL in the All Star game in one of the shortest All Star games ever, winning 4-3 in just 2 ½ hours. This was good baseball, save for a few errors you don’t expect from these stars!

Highlights:

Carl Crawford’s snatch of Brad Hawpe’s long shot that would have barely cleared the fence and given the NL a one run lead in the 7th inning
Jayson Werth running down Justin Morneau’s drive to deep left center with an outstretched go-go-gadget arm to make an outstanding catch
Curtis Granderson’s triple that led to Adam Jones’ sacrifice fly that put the AL up 4-3 in the eighth
Albert Pujol’s good D, minus the 1st inning…

Lowlights:

Pujol’s fielding error in the 1st opened up the inning for the AL to score twice
Bell giving up the run in the 8th inning (reminiscent of former Padres Hoffman blowing the save in the 2006 All Star game)
Pinch hitter Ryan Howard getting twisted up like a pretzel in the batters box in the eighth, stranding NL go ahead runners at 2nd and 3rd

Funnies:

President Obama looked as excited meeting the players as the players were meeting him
All the players had cameras and camcorders to record the moments, reminding you these stars are in it for the love of the game
Padres road trip: Bell and Gonzalez missed their flight from Indianapolis to St. Louis due to weather and had to rent a car and finish the journey on the road
