Happy ChristmaHanukkwanzaa

I know- i’ts a hard knock life.  Some of you are wondering why I’m not posting but I’m busy celebrating the holidays in sunny SoCal (dude, “like,” its 70 and the surf is knarly dude!), sipping on beers I had yet to try while visiting San Diego brewers like Ballast Point, Alpine (Nelson is one SERIOUSLY Awesome IPA), and Hamilton’s, the quintessential neighborhood bar.  Tried the Alpine Good Barleywine, a 17% chest warmer that starts out a little sweeter when frigid from the tap.  Hit up Lost Abbey, Breakwater Brewing Company in Oceanside (the Hibiscus Honey is too bright red and sweet like a pixie stick but the North Jetty IPA is an excellent West Coast IPA),and of course Pizza Port, both Carlsbad and Solana Beach.  Wasted a few hours down south at the Pacific Beach Ale House (tourist attraction, beers don’t suck but they aren’t that great either) and the La Jolla Brewhouse (their blonde was pretty true-tasting but the rest were like ordering your first beer at last call- nothing special but when push comes to shove).  I’m surviving, counting down the days ’til I’m scraping ice off the windshield and back at work, but don’t expect much from me until then- tulip glass in one hand and pint of something in the other.  Hoppy New Year!

New England Drinking

Armsby Abbey

I really can’t tell you if there’s a bus line that runs past this place, but parking nearby is either non-existent or will cost you the equivalent of a round of beers.  Those metered spaces across the street are good for an hour only, not nearly enough time to attempt the draft list from left to right or top to bottom.  But its close proximity to the DCU Center means there is a parking garage paradise within a few blocks radius.  Walk off a beer or two! Tiger on the Prowl

December 1st, 2009 by sarah

Enough already, let’s sink this ball in the hole and be done with it. Tiger got caught fooling around on his wife who got all Jack Nicholson on him with his best driver and proved her aim is just as good as his, taking out two rear windows of his bloated SUV before he wrecked it. He should be glad he’s not a chef or an archer.

Oh when the Saints, go marching in…

New Orleans blew over the Patriots secondary like Hurricane Katrina over a levee.  A 38-17 win last night puts NO’s record at 11-0 and a harried Belichick has no answers for his team’s lack of coverage.  New England’s D might as well sat on the sidelines on the 75 yard pass to Devery Henderson with not a single Patriot in the camera’s view.  And as much potential as I think Rivers has and how he’s managed to make it come together this season, maybe the Chargers should have held onto Brees despite his injury then- perfect QB rating last night!  Maybe the Saints are on their way to what the Pats couldn’t achieve… or I just jinxed them!
