I know, I know, my Philly Beer week recap is a little late. My memories are more like flashbacks so it took a little time to piece the week together. Better late than never right?

I have finally settled on two choices for my ideal transportation- helicopter or tank. The helicopter could propel me above the traffic, far from the idiot drivers who can’t merge or drive slow. The tank could help me roll right over the same drivers should I decide I have no place to land my copter. Lately it seems, every time I get behind the wheel, I’m playing defense. My commute has become more like a jousting tournament, the Medieval Times of avoiding a sword in the form of a Ford F250 or even a butter knife transformed as a Smart car. The car in front fakes left, goes right (into me?!?!).
We’ve become a world of multi-tasking, juggling work, family, and friends, all while tweeting about it, yet many of these same ADHD-driven folks can’t seem to signal and make a lane change at the same time. Really… is it so difficult to look in the rear view mirror every once in awhile? Can you even do so without veering right or braking, or for any other reason besides fixing your hair or applying lipstick? Try multi-tasking on the road too! And I don’t mean applying your mascara while texting a friend for dinner plans and consuming a Big Gulp sized sugar-overloaded iced coffee drink. Stop playing Monopoly on the road- this is The Game of Life!

It came down to 7 games in the series, but the Lakers claimed their second straight NBA title last night in an 83-79 upset against the Celtics. I’m surprised myself. Boston had a 3-2 lead in the series, but the games moved to LA and homefield advantage isn’t just a term. The Lakers sucked the first half of the game, missing 21 of the first 27 shots, but rallied in the fourth quarter to take it.
But onto more exciting news in the world of futbol. The real futbol. Futbol as the world knows it (soccer to most of us Americans). Read the rest of this entry »

The Formula Drift competition in Jersey was hot. No seriously, it was like 90 and a soaking humid time regardless of your deodorant. I’m hoping it was the heat that got to the “models” as well. When asked if she liked New Jersey, Miss Formula Drift replied in that squeaky, peroxide-has-killed-my-brain-cells-voice “I’m glad it’s not snowing.” Yeah honey, we get a lot of snow in June. Then again, maybe it her spandex was on too tight. Unfortunately, some guys wore even less, exposing their man-boobs and hairy backs to the world of drifting. But the competition was pretty entertaining. Rubber landing on me and bumpers flying everywhere- those that didn’t completely disintegrate on the track were either pulled off or even sawzalled off to finish the competition. I got some great up-close shots of a few competitors before they played bumper cars up against the barrier wall. Check out my recap story on MotoIQ. I also have a complete gallery of the pics up as well.

It can’t get much better for two brand spanking new major leaguers than the success they’ve had since the draft. Stephen Strasburg struck out 14 in just seven innings including the last seven batters in a row that he faced, the last with a 99mph fastball. The 21 year old’s accomplishment is a franchise record (OK, so the Nationals have only been around since 2005) and his opponent was the Pittsburgh Pirates, a team that bats 0.236, but every single batter Read the rest of this entry »
