My Monday night tasting group will be hosting it’s annual Barleywine night this week.  2009 was a record year- 31 Barleywines and somehow I’m still around to tell the story.  That’s the year the new rule “1 bottle to share per person” was institutionalized!  With all the pomp and circumstance surrounding this Monday’s tasting (and the promise of some liver obliterating), you’d think I’d stick to a saison or pale ale or some session beer for my weekend drinking.  But no, I am drinking a Little Korkny Ale coincidentally (almost tauntingly) bottled in 2009.  It’s a heavyweight- cognac barrel aged and tipping the scales at 12%.  Liver regeneration FTW!
