Michigan is well known for producing crappy American cars, but they also brew excellent craft beer, and two recent events in the Philly ‘burbs had me drinking to that!  Last Saturday, TJ’s pulled together Dr. Joel from New Holland, Derek from Bell’s Brewery, and a “special guest appearance” representing Founders- Bernie of Stockertown…  Jeff tapped Mad Hatter, high gravity beers Existential and Night Tripper, Brother Jacob (good dubbel), and Imperial Hatter (me loves the hops!) from New Holland, Two Hearted (always a great choice), Double Cream Stout, Best Brown Ale, Oberon, and Kalamazoo Stout from Bells, and Founders Pale Ale, Curmudgeon, Imperial Stout, and two of my “throw-back” IPA’s- Centennial and Double Trouble.

UJ’s Manatawny “Founders-fest” this past Thursday night also paired some of the best from this Michigan brewer, including Cerise, Centennial, Double Trouble, Reds Rye, Fest Wheat, and my choices for the night: Breakfast Stout and Bourbon Barrel Aged Mountain Maple Brown, which I can only describe as bourbon Canadian Breakfast Stout.  It’s a half so you still have a shot at trying some, but I’d get there quickly because I’m kinda thirsty…
