phillies-back-to-backOpen mouth, insert foot?  Last week when the Yankees were up 3-1 in the World Series, the Philadelphia Inquirer ran a Macy’s ad declaring the Phillies back to back World champions.

We all know that’s not how it ended up- damn Yankees.  When does Spring Training start again?Baseball Out…

Football In! Yep, I know it’s the eighth week already and baseball overstayed its welcome, but the Chargers victory in the last two minutes of the game Sunday against the Giants (now slumping after starting the season 5-0) definitely keeps me looking for an SD playoff berth- Bolts! The Cowboys knocked the Eagles down a spot after winning that matchup. Philly’s just not having a good sports week! And who will be the next team to get two wins? The Browns don’t seem to have much luck on the grass and the Rams have a much larger deficit against other teams in points per game. Of the 1-7 teams left, only the Browns and Rams have a home game in Week 10 but the Saints have a big, fat goose egg in the loss column so the Rams don’t stand a chance. The Ravens are 4-4 so the Browns might have a chance but I think the Chiefs have a better shot at upsetting the Raiders at home, especially considering the only two wins the Raiders have so far this season were against the Chiefs (on a drive the last two minutes of the game) or against the Eagles who played “embarrassingly” according to QB McNabb, a week after the Raiders were pathetically defeated 44-7 by the Giants. And the Eagles play the Chargers at San Diego this week so as much as I want to give Philly some four leaf clover, fingers-crossed luck in sports, they’ll have to wait until Week 11 against ‘Da Bears. Hey, there’s always basketball and hockey, where Philly teams stand somewhere in the (lower) middle of the pack.
