Pagani Zonda C12 S 7.3 – $350,000-400,000
So maybe I just need to win on a large scratch off lottery ticket to pay for this one…
a. 7.3L, 12 cylinder engine with 555 horsepower designed and manufactured by Mercedes Benz AMG; 7000rpm redline
b. 0-60 in 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 220 mph
c. Carbon fiber monocoque with aluminum sub-frames
d. First Zonda debuted in 1999 and only about 10 are produced each year. Just 5 of the original 6.0L Zondas were built throughout more than 3 years; one was crash tested, one was a show car, and the others were delivered to customers for about $320,000.
e. Cool fact – Originally to be named “Fangio F1” after F1 champion Juan Manual Fangio who helped to engineer the early Zondas; after his death in 1995, name changed for an air current above Argentina.
f. Another cool fact – Horatio Pagani was born in Argentina. He moved to Italy where he initally swept floors for Lamborghini to get his start. Pagani studied Leonardi da Vinci instead of receiving formal automotive engineering training.
g. They also make one off versions. The Zonda PS is a special edition of the Zonda F with a C9 gearbox made for Peter Saywell and the Zonda Tricolore will be built soon to honor the Italian Air Force aerobatics team. It is based on the Cinque and the only one will sell for $1.75M.
g. Zonda F is named for Fangio; came with an extra headlight, revised front end, new spoiler, and more aerodynamic vents
h. Runner up- the C12 S Monza, a track version of the Zonda; lighter, unmuffled exhaust, used a different wing and front diffuser, reinforced roll cage, larger brakes, stiffer suspension, and 0-60 in 2.7 seconds
