The Philly Flyers are heading into the Stanley Cup finals Saturday night against the Chicago Blackhawks. The Flyers haven’t polished the cup since they won back to back titles in 1974 and 1975, when most of the current team wasn’t even born. Considering they were down by 3 games against Boston and down by 3 goals in the final game, the fact that they rallied to come back and win the whole thing ranks pretty high in my bandwagon scale. Not to mention Philly is my backyard. Of course, my Chi-town family-members will point out my ties to Chicago are much longer than my ties to PA. And my SoCal blood is saying, what is ice hockey? Isn’t that played where long underwear is worn and winter diets consist of meat and potatoes to bulk up? Sure, we’ve got the (LA) Kings and (Anaheim) Ducks, but who gives a f…. The only ice hockey I watched as a kid was the celebrity tournaments with that 90210 guy. Alright, alright- go Flyers! Now back to my regularly scheduled Padres cheering. Yep, still in first place.
